What is the purpose of this course?
To help you develop professionalism as both a practitioner and a researcher of psychological measurement.

To explore the theory and practice of appropriate and ethical testing.

To become equipped with the basic tools of psychological assessment.

To understand the background behind major psychological tests.

To know sources of test materials and information.

What will you learn?
The historical development of psychological testing and construction.

Basic steps in test administration.

Correct principles of test results interpretation.

Appropriate ethical principles of testing.

How to list, describe, and evaluate widely used psychological tests.

Explain how to use major sources of test information.

Evaluation Procedures
Three unit exams worth 100 points each.

Comprehensive final exam worth 100 points.

Writing assignment: a comprehensive psychological analysis of self based on self-administration and interpretation of results from a battery of tests, worth 100 points.

Participation in class activities (including attendance), many of which will involve testing materials, totaling 50 points.

About This Class
Attendance Policy:
    No more than 5 unexcused absences
    Lateness or leaving early = absence

Participation/Makeup Work
    Participation requires attendance and fulfilling requirements of any in-class activities.
    Any activities missed due to excused absences must be made up within 1 week or the absence will count as one of your 5 unexcused absences.
